An Assessment of the Security of Reconfigurable Cloud Computing
Speaker : Russell Tessier - University of Massachusetts
In this talk, we examine efforts to protect network processing and computation in cloud-based FPGAs from hardware- and software-based attacks. FPGAs have served as integral components in cloud computing for a decade, even though commercial FPGA architectures were not designed for cloud deployment. A range of potential attacks on cloud-based FPGAs and their remediations are examined. We[…]-

Cyclotomic Cosets: Hidden Subgroup and Quantum Sieving Algorithm for Prime-Power Moduli
Speaker : Mathias Boucher - Université de Rennes
The Dihedral Coset Problem (DCP), also known as the hidden shift problem, plays a fundamental role in post-quantum public-key cryptography, since the Learning-With-Error problem reduces to DCP. The “Simon meets Kuperberg” quantum algorithm by Bonnetain and Naya-Plasencia solves the DCP in quasi-polynomial time when the modulus is a power of two. We provide a generalization of this algorithm for[…] -

Adelic reduction of module lattices
Speaker : Henry Bambury - DGA-MI et Inria Rennes
We give a strict generalisation of the LLL algorithm over number fields, based on the reduction theory of $GL(n)$ over the adele ring of a number field. Our algorithm is free of heuristics, with rigorous bounds on output quality and complexity. -- based on joint work with Seungki Kim, Changmin Lee and Phong Nguyen ---

Compositional Semantics for Detection and Defense of Speculative Leaks
Speaker : Xaver Fabian - CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security
Speculative execution improves CPU performance but introduces vulnerabilities, known as Spectre attacks, which exploit microarchitectural side effects to leak sensitive data. Modern processors employ multiple interacting speculation mechanisms, yet existing approaches predominantly analyze them in isolation, which limits both the automated detection of complex leaks and the formal verification of[…]-
