Description

Disinformation is one of the major challenges facing our democratic societies. Although the phenomenon is not new, it has reached an unprecedented scale with the rise of social media, recommendation algorithms, and, more recently, artificial intelligence, all of which have accelerated the spread of inaccurate or misleading content at an unprecedented speed and scale.
Faced with such a challenge, no single discipline has the tools needed to fully grasp its complexity.
The Brittany ecosystem benefits from an exceptional concentration of stakeholders committed to combating disinformation. This expertise spans both the operational field (COMCYBER, Ouest-France, DGA, AMIAD) and forward-looking research, supported by interdisciplinary scientific collaboration.

To strengthen and showcase this ecosystem, and to foster collaborations with other national and international research hubs, a dedicated seminar series will be launched in September 2026, with one session held each month.
To kick-start this initiative, a launch event will take place on 4 September 2026. This meeting will provide an opportunity to map local expertise, identify potential synergies, and define the seminar's priority topics.

Event format (by invitation only) :

Designed to foster mutual understanding and collaboration, this kick-off day will follow a dynamic format featuring short presentations (15 minutes each), followed by discussion sessions, ensuring that all participants have the opportunity to contribute.

The presentations will be organized around four thematic areas:

  • Information, fake news, and conspiracy theories;
  • Definitions and citizens' behaviours;
  • Passive detection;Active detection;
  • Counter-disinformation policies.
